There is rising interest in Omega-3 fatty acids as a healthy choice in consumer products; CCTI worked as part of a design team to develop a process enriching Omega-3s from natural fish oils. Fractionation is conducted under ultra-high vacuum (< 1 mmHg,) posing significant design challenges. The plant is operating successfully.

Research shows that omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation and may help lower risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and arthritis.
